  • USES:
    This medication is an anti-infective used to treat certain vaginal infections.

    HOW TO USE:
    This medication is for vaginal use only. Fill the applicator with cream. Insert the applicator high into the vagina and press the plunger to release the medication. Clean the applicator with warm soapy water and rinse well. A detailed instruction sheet should be provided with the medication. Review the instructions and be sure to ask your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions. Continue using this medication for as long as prescribed to ensure the infection is cleared. Stopping therapy too soon may result in a re-infection.

    SIDE EFFECTS:
    This medication may cause vaginal itching or burning. These effects should disappear as your body adjusts to the medication. If they continue or become bothersome, contact your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop: skin rash, vaginal irritation. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

    PRECAUTIONS:
    Tell your doctor if you have any pre-existing conditions, such as: kidney disease, any allergies (especially to antibiotics). This medication should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. Since small amounts of this medication are found in breast milk, consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

    DRUG INTERACTIONS:
    Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take. Avoid the use of vaginal douches while taking this medication. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

     

  • Sulfanilamide is an anti-infective agent used in vaginal formulations for over 40 years.
  • AVC treats vulvovaginitis caused by Candida albicans
  • AVC blocks certain metabolic processes essential for growth of susceptible bacteria
  • AVC matches the pH of the healthy vagina to encourage the presence of needed lactobacilli
  • One applicatorful, once a day, until tube is gone

     

  • Warnings:
    This product is contraindicated in patients known to be sensitive to this product or the sulfonamides and should be avoided in nursing mothers. Local sensitivity reactions such as increased discomfort or a burning sensation have occasionally been reported following the use of topical sulfonamides. With the use of AVC Cream, sensitivity reaction (only local) were reported for 0.2% of the investigational patients.
